What syncs, and when
For owners. Each till keeps its own complete copy of the business and works from it, with or without a connection. Linked to ByteBarn Cloud, the tills send each other their changes through the cloud.
Offline first
Section titled “Offline first”Nothing at the till waits for the internet. A sale, a stock adjustment or a new customer is saved on the till straight away. Changes made offline queue up and are sent when the connection comes back, in the order they were made.
How fast
Section titled “How fast”- Sending: this till’s changes go up within 15 seconds.
- Receiving: while the till shows Live updates: Connected, another till’s changes arrive within about a second. Otherwise it checks every 15 seconds.
- When a sale takes a product down to its low-stock level, the till first checks (for up to 2 seconds) for sales other tills have just made, so two tills are less likely to sell the same last unit. Offline, the sale goes ahead on its own count.
Settings → Cloud Sync shows what’s Waiting to upload and when it Last synced; Sync now sends and receives straight away.
What’s shared
Section titled “What’s shared”Everything about the business: products, stock, categories, suppliers, purchase orders, customers and their credit and points, sales, refunds, payments, quotations, invoices, deliveries, expenses, stock takes, till sessions, users and the business’s settings.
What stays on each till
Section titled “What stays on each till”- Receipt printer and cash drawer setup.
- M-Pesa credentials (Daraja keys): they never leave the till they were typed into, so set M-Pesa up on each till that takes STK push payments.
- Text size, and which of password or PIN the login screen starts on.
- Wrong-password counts for the login lockout.
When two tills change the same thing
Section titled “When two tills change the same thing”- Counts and balances merge. Stock, customer credit and loyalty points are worked out from every till’s records added together, so two tills selling at the same time both count.
- Edits to the same record: the latest wins. If two tills change the same product’s price while offline, the later change is kept on every till.
- Clashes are flagged, not lost: two tills selling the last unit leave the product oversold; two tills adding the same customer, category or supplier leave a duplicate to merge.
