Make a sale
For cashiers. Every sale happens on the Point of Sale screen: products on the left, the cart in the middle, payment on the right.
Add items
Section titled “Add items”Any of these adds one to the cart:
- Tap a product. Use the category buttons above the products (All, Laptops, …) to narrow them down.
- Search in Search products… and tap the result.
- Scan a barcode with the cursor in Scan barcode.
A product with several versions (sizes, colours) asks which one. A product tracked by serial number asks which units you’re selling.
In the cart, each line has:
- − and + to change the quantity,
- a discount box, in shillings or, after tapping KES to switch it, as a percentage,
- × to remove the line.
To give a discount on the whole sale instead, enter it in Order discount (KES) on the right.
Choose the customer
Section titled “Choose the customer”Leave Walk-in Customer for an anonymous sale. To record who bought it, pick the customer from that list, or select + New to add them. A customer is needed to sell on credit.
Take payment
Section titled “Take payment”- Tap how the customer is paying: Cash, M-Pesa, Card or Credit.
- For Cash, enter what they hand you in Amount Tendered. Change due shows what to give back.
- Select Complete Sale, or press F12.
- If your business asks for a confirmation, check the amount and select Complete Sale again.
F9 pays the whole total in cash in one step.
Tapping a second payment method splits the sale between them.
The receipt
Section titled “The receipt”After the sale, the receipt shows what was sold, the total, how it was paid and the change.
- Print Receipt prints it, and Open Drawer opens the cash drawer, when this till has a receipt printer set up.
- New Sale, or F2, starts the next sale with an empty cart.
You can find and reprint any receipt later from Receipts, above the products.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- Complete Sale is greyed out: the sale isn’t ready to charge. Check that:
- a payment method is chosen, and with more than one, they add up to the total;
- for cash, Amount Tendered covers it;
- for credit, a customer is chosen and the sale fits their credit limit;
- for M-Pesa by push, the customer has finished paying on their phone.
- A product shows a warning about stock: you’re selling more than the stock records show. Depending on your account, a manager may need to approve the sale.
- To start over, press F2 or Esc to clear the cart.
