Adjust stock, and review oversold products
For managers. Stock goes up when you receive a purchase order and down with every sale. When the count is wrong for any other reason (damage, a return, a miscount), adjust it.
Adjust a product’s stock
Section titled “Adjust a product’s stock”- Go to Products and select Adjust on the product’s row. The window shows how many are on hand now.
- In Change (use negative to remove stock), enter how many to add, or a minus number to
remove:
-3takes three away. - Choose the Reason: Restock, Return, or Adjustment / correction.
- Say why in Note (optional), for example “Damaged in transit”.
- Select Apply.
Every adjustment is kept in the product’s history: select View on its row and look under Stock Movements for the reason, note, date, who made it and the change.
For a serial-tracked product, Adjust asks for the serial numbers being added instead of a number.
To recount many products at once, use a stock take instead.
Oversold products
Section titled “Oversold products”A product’s stock can go below zero. That happens when:
- two tills sell the last units before they’ve synced with each other;
- a cashier sells goods that are on the counter but haven’t been entered as stock yet;
- an adjustment removes more than the stock records show.
Those products are marked Oversold, and Products and the Dashboard show a warning
such as 1 product is oversold with a Review button. Review lists each one with its
latest sales, receipt numbers included: receipts from two different tills (…-T1-…, …-T2-…)
mean both sold the last units before syncing.
To fix it:
- Stock arrived that wasn’t entered: receive the purchase order, or adjust stock up.
- The count is just wrong: count what’s on the shelf and adjust to match.
- A customer paid for something you don’t have: restock it, or refund them from Sales.
