Split a payment, and sell on credit

For cashiers. A customer can pay for one sale in more than one way: part cash and part M-Pesa, for example. Any part can also go on their account, as credit.

A KES 43,323 sale paid KES 20,000 in cash and KES 23,323 by M-Pesa.
  1. Add the items.
  2. Tap each way the customer is paying, for example Cash and then M-Pesa. Each one gets its own box, numbered 1., 2., …
  3. In each box, enter how much that payment covers in Amount (KES). For cash, also enter what they hand you in Amount Tendered; for M-Pesa, the code.
  4. Remaining counts down as you go. When it reaches KES 0, select Complete Sale.

To take a payment back out, select × on its box, or tap its method again.

The receipt lists each payment separately: Paid via Cash, Paid via M-Pesa and so on, with any change against the cash.

Credit puts the amount on the customer’s account, to be paid later.

  1. Choose the customer: select Walk-in Customer and pick them from the list, or + New to add them. Credit always needs a customer.
  2. Tap Credit, alone or as part of a split.
  3. Check Available credit: what they can still owe under their credit limit.
  4. Select Complete Sale.
  • “Select a customer above to bill the credit portion to their account.” You tapped Credit with Walk-in Customer still chosen. Pick the customer.
  • “This exceeds name’s available credit — reduce the credit portion or increase their limit from the Customers page.” The credit is more than they can owe. Take more of it as cash or M-Pesa, or ask a manager to raise their limit.
  • Remaining isn’t KES 0: the amounts don’t add up to the total yet. Complete Sale stays greyed out until they do.
