Join an existing business
For owners. A second till (or third, or tenth) joins your business instead of being set up from scratch. It downloads the business from ByteBarn Cloud, then keeps in sync with the other tills.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Your first till is linked to ByteBarn Cloud. On that till: Settings → Cloud Sync, then create the business there with your email.
- The new till is a fresh install, showing the Welcome screen. A till that already has its own business or data can’t join another one.
- Both tills are online while you do this. After that, each till keeps working offline.
Get a pairing code
Section titled “Get a pairing code”On the till that’s already linked, an admin:
- Goes to Settings → Cloud Sync.
- Under Add another till, selects Generate pairing code.
The 6-digit code works once, and expires after 10 minutes.
Join from the new till
Section titled “Join from the new till”- On the Welcome screen, select Join an Existing Business.
- Enter the code in Pairing code.
- Give the till a name in This till’s name (it suggests Till 2, Till 3, …), such as “Back Counter”.
- Read the License, Terms and Privacy Notice and tick the box to agree.
- Select Join business.
The till downloads the business (products, customers, staff accounts and history) and then shows the login screen. Everyone logs in with the same username and password or PIN they use on the other tills.
A large business can take a minute or two to download. If the connection drops part-way, the till keeps the link and finishes downloading by itself once it’s back online.
If something goes wrong
Section titled “If something goes wrong”- “invalid or expired code”: the code was mistyped, already used, or more than 10 minutes old. Generate a new one.
- “this till already has its own data, so it can’t join another business – join from a fresh install instead”: the till has been set up before. Joining only works on a fresh install.
